Digital Art- Photoshop or Illustrator???

By,
Gauri

Photoshop was first launched in 1988, since then it has been the most popular tool for all the web designers for creating the web based images. Photoshop was primarily designed as a tool useful for the photographers to edit and manage their photographs. But over the years with the technology and the vast increasing demand Photoshop has got even more than just editing photographs.
Illustrator came into picture much before the Photoshop i.e. Illustrator was launched in 1987.Illustratoer was used mainly for the typesetting and logo designing as a part of graphic designing. Illustrator is now used as a tool for both graphic designers and digital artists for the purpose of creating various innovative digital products.

Both the Photoshop and the Illustrator are now the part of the Adobe’s extremely popular graphics programs

Selecting between Photoshop and Illustrator has always been a question that the Designers have in their minds. Thus choosing between Photoshop and the Illustrator solely depends on the type of images and the situation related to the digital designing.

Which is better for Logo Designing?

Considering the creation of a logo, both Photoshop and Illustrator can be used. Since the logo may be a predefined image initially, but its usability and maintainability is the important factor that the designers must keep in mind. The logo may be used many times and on much different material, thus reshaping and resizing of the logo may come into picture.

Using Photoshop you would create a Bitmap Graphic Images which cannot be resized without pixilation or loss of quality.

Thus Using Illustrator would result in creation of a vector image which is not part of a bitmap. This will ensure that the logo image created can be reshaped and resized and thus retaining the image quality. So, we could say in designing a logo Photoshop would not be the right choice instead Illustrator would be the best suited for logo designing.

Which is better for Web Designing?
When Web designing comes into picture most of the designers suggest the Photoshop tool. The Photoshop graphics is generally placed on a pixel based bitmap, thus Photoshop is the only choice for designing on screen media.

But if you are designing User Interfaces, Illustrator can be advantages over the use of Photoshop. Illustrator is good at resizing images and also great for creating reusable component. The Symbol Panel in the Illustrator you can create a library of icons and form elements that can be reused and manipulated over time thus making your design more consistent.

But for most of the part here Photoshop is the winner here. Very often Illustrator is always a part of the workflow in designing UIs but most of the work is done in Photoshop.

Which tool is better for Digital Art?
Illustrator may seem like the obvious choice here, but the type of illustration is more important. The first step of an illustration is that they are designed on the paper first and then scanned and brought into a graphics program to color. Illustrator would be recommended for clean, graphical illustrations.

Whereas Photoshop for photo based illustrations that require very thorough detail and photo manipulation. Most of the times it would be a mixture of both because it all depends on the type of illustration.

Which tool is better for Sketching and Wire framing?
Sketching and Wire framing is basically the blueprint in which almost all designed entities evolve. When Sketching comes into focus we think of the pen, pencil and paper, but digital sketching involves graphics editing program. We could use both the tools, but Illustrator is much quicker and easier to use for sketching and wire framing.

In Illustrator the ability to easily resize, manipulate and reuse elements quickly is crucial when creating wireframes.

Thus concluding I would say having a solid understanding of both Photoshop and Illustrator is very essential for most designers, whether a web designer, graphic designer, fashion designer, illustrator or any other type of digital creative. Better knowledge of these programs is going to ensure you choose the best program for the task and create the best possible output.

Business Communication & Etiquette

By,
Karishma

In terms of business; Communication and etiquettes are the key parameters to grow. These two words are treated as “soft” skills, but they are vitally important to the successful running of a business. Appropriate behavior establishes trust among business contacts, and a good flow of communication improves the efficiency of any enterprise. Both of these outcomes can add materially to a business’ bottom line.

“Right etiquette smooth’s the way for business deals.”
Business Communication:- Business communication refers to how a company shares information    to promote its product or services to potential consumers.

Business etiquette:- It is a set of disciplines which is required to follow in a profession. In other words, it’s a way of representing yourself in such a way which would help you to be taken seriously by audience.
 Business etiquette includes following parameters:
1.   How we dress up
2.   Our personal grooming
3.   Our body language
4.   Way of our handshake
5.   And the fluency of our communications skills.
And as the world is changing the rules of business etiquette are also changing so we must need to adopt the change accordingly.

Business communication is considered as soft skills, and is important for the successful conduct of a business. Good behavior establishes trust among business clients, and good communication improves the efficiency of any enterprise. It is also responsible for maintaining the long term relationship.
An effective communication has the ability to convert the negative situation into positive one.
Dealing with contacts outside of our own organization, etiquette and communication skills contribute for making the first impression.
Good Communication avoids the misunderstanding between team members and colleagues and also helps to produce the quality output.
Email, texts are the ways of communication through which we communicate with any client outside the city or country so the content should be proper, understandable, effective, brief and informational.
Listening is also the most important business communication skill. When employees feel that they’re being listened, they feel respected and are more willing to share their feelings and opinions.
While working you should always appreciate others and try to motivate them and help them to improve their skills in a very good manner.
For Example - A new employee wants to discuss something in that case you must provide him/her proper guidance you should not de-motivate or discourage them even though it is a little thing.

Cyber Security

By,
Veena Sawant

What is cyber security?
Cyber security, is also referred to as information technology security, focuses on protecting networks, computers, programs and data from unintended or unauthorized access, change or destruction.

Why is cyber security important?
Governments, military, corporations, financial institutions, hospitals and other businesses collect, process and stores a great deal of confidential information on computers and transmit that data across networks to other computers. With the growing volume and sophistication of cyber-attacks, ongoing attention is required to protect sensitive business and personal information  and also to safeguard national security.

Cyber security is also called as computer security. It is the protection of your data or information from theft or damage to the hardware, the software. To secure a computer system, it is important to understand the attacks that can be made against it, and these threats can typically be classified into one of the categories below:

1 . Eavesdropping : Eavesdropping is hiddenly listening to a private conversation, typically between hosts on a network. Even machines that operate as a closed system can be eavesdropped via monitoring the faint electro-magnetic transmissions generated by the hardware.

2 . Backdoor: A backdoor in a computer system is any secret method of bypassing normal authentication or security controls. They may exist for number of reasons, including by original design or from poor configuration.

3 . Direct-access attacks: Common consumer devices that can be used to transfer data surreptitiously. An unauthorized user gaining physical access to a computer is most likely, able to directly download data from it. They may also compromise security by making operating system modifications, installing software worms, key loggers.

4 . Phishing: Phishing is the attempt to acquire sensitive information such as username, password, and credit card details directly from users. Phishing is typically carried out by email spoofing or instant messaging.

5 . Social engineering and Trojans: Social engineering aims to convince a user to disclose secrets such as passwords, card numbers, etc. for example, impersonating a bank, a contractor, or a customer.

Role of government:
The role of  government is to make regulations to force companies and organizations to protect their systems, infrastructure and information from any cyber-attack.
