Is your workspace working for you?

Did you know that an comfort designed workspace will not only help you avoid aches and pains, but will also help you be more productive as well?
It’s true! Adjusting your area to create an comfort workstation will lessen the impact that extended sitting and lengthy computer use can have on your body and on your productivity.

Here are some tips to help you create the ideal workspace.
Posture perfect
Posture plays a big role in how your body feels throughout the day. Make sure you maintain proper posture while working to lessen the strain on your muscles.
Posture is not just about your back, be sure to also pay attention to the position of your head, neck/spine, arms/wrists, hips/thighs, and feet too.
Try to stay in a neutral position when working. Do not bend over or strain to look up too much. Find the best position for your computer and your chair to achieve a good balance.
Try to give yourself enough space on your desk. Do not keep everything too tight and at the same time do not keep everything too far and inaccessible.
Balance is everything!

Things to avoid
Create a better and more ergonomic space for yourself by avoiding the following:
1.Avoid using maximum force when striking the keys on keyboard.
2.Avoid twisting and turning for work tools such as your telephone, your mouse, your reference materials, or anything else. Keep your things situated well within reach.
3.Avoid resting your elbows, forearms, or wrists on hard surfaces or sharp edges.
4.Avoid awkwardly positioning your feet. Keep your chair at a good height for your feet to rest on the floor without either having to point your toes or over-bend your knees.

Don’t forget to take a break!
Like having a perfectly designed workspace, everyone needs to take a break throughout the day to keep the blood circulating.
Take mini-breaks throughout the day to help muscles adjust from being in a stationary position.
Give your eyes breaks throughout the day as well by closing them momentarily, and blinking frequently.
Exercises can also help keep your blood pumping.
There are great stretches and exercises you can do right at your desk to keep you feeling good all day.
