MINIMUM RESOLUTION:-
300* DPI (DOTS PER INCH) 72*PPI(PIXELS PER INCH)
While both refer to resolution. DPI is used for printers and PPI is used for online/digital use.
Depending on the file, 150 dpi may be acceptable for some printers.
COMMON DIMENSIONS:-
PRINTED DOCUMENTS(300 DPI):
PRINTED PHOTOS (300 DPI):-
4x6 INCHES 1200 x 1800 pixels
5 x 7 INCHES 1500 x 2100 pixels
8 x 10 INCHES 2400 x 3000 pixels
11 x 14 INCHES 3300 x 4200 pixels
16 x 20 INCHES 4800 x 6000 pixels
PHOTOS FOR WEB USE (72 DPI):-
Size your photos for your blog's or website's content width. Most blogs have a content area that is somewhere between 500 pixels and 800 pixels wide, so resize your photos to a standard size for your blog , like 600 pixels wide, and change the resolution to 72 PPI. There's no reason to have print-ready photos online: the higher the resolution, the bigger the photo, and the slower that photo will load on your site( and is a small security measure if you're protective of your photos).
