WhatsApp plans free calling in India

by Ziuby

WhatsApp Already enjoys a big customer base and wide variety of users.  It is pretty evident that the popularity and market penetration of this social media app is astounding considering the its short life cycle.

The team at WhatsApp have been busy with constant upadates every month or so to keep the users hooked in. Now they are targeting a new market with a very enticing new feature "Free Calling". WhatsApp are targeting India specifically with this cool new feature.. But the announcement seems to have been hastened due to the fact that another Indian messaging app Hike messenger had announced to make this available. Hike has already made it available to its around 35 million users in India and elsewhere and this is the reason that WhatsApp has been forced to make the announcement so hastily. So we must be thankful to Kevin Mittal for forcing the global messaging giant to act this fast.

Although it seems that Hike has a pretty specific market and have been focusing only in their Local market , still they are giving a fight to the foreign companies significantly. There has been lots of things backing the WhatsApp people be it Facebook or be it the new Indian laws promoting healthy foreign investment. Amongst all this one thing is for sure the end user will surely benefit.

Mobile Apps to boost your Business

by Ziuby

We have changed a lot ! One has to agree that a conventional shopper has now gotten a wide array of platforms for buying goods.  Now a business has become bold and with several new avenues to exploit the chances of turning a small idea into a successful business is more of reality. This has now become possible only because of few specific things. A perfect balance of market demand and the technological advancement have lead to this situation.

A customer is no longer the only one who walks into the shop. A business owner now engages a customer through e-mail, mobile-app, through a website and many other such electronic platforms. These are the result of new Digital World and referred to as E-Commerce. So what is E-Commerce and Mobile Commerce? Has it really impacted our way of shopping so much?
? Well yes!

 A few interesting stats:

 1. Over 1 billion of the world’s 4+ billion mobile phones are smartphones.
 2. By today, mobile internet usage is projected to overtake desktop internet usage.
 3. Apple has the smart phone largest market share, followed closely by Android, with Windows and   Blackberry being the runner ups.
 4. Apps are developed differently for Apple, Android, Windows, and Blackberry devices, yet if properly planned apps can be created for all devices on a single framework.

The phrase mobile commerce was originally coined in 1997 by Kevin Duffey at the launch of the Global Mobile Commerce Forum, to mean “the delivery of electronic commerce capabilities directly into the consumer’s hand, anywhere, via wireless technology. Many choose to think of Mobile Commerce as meaning “a retail outlet in your customer’s pocket.” The telecom Industries are now providing services at a low price. Because of this and the low cost of Smartphone there are lot of people using Internet through mobile or handheld devices.  Mobile Commerce is also known as m-commerce.

2015 is going to be an interesting year. Web-designing and development Industry have now gotten even more avenues to exploit and come up with innovative and smart solutions.

Hike Messenger acquires Zip Phone

by Ziuby

India's Home-grown chat application firm "Hike Messenger" has just acquired US-based voice-calling company Zip Phone, a Y Combinator startup. Hike is planning to launch free voice calling soon, and this first acquisition by the Indian company is a step in that direction. The acquisition is aimed at expanding Hike's product range in the Internet-based communication space, the company said, declining to disclose the acquisition sum. "Zip Phone's technology will allow us to bring free voice calling to the market much faster. Incidentally, this is one of the top requested features from our users as well," Kavin Bharti Mittal, founder and chief executive officer, Hike Messenger said.

US-based Anuj Jain developed the Zip Phone app which works globally. The app automatically detects your contacts and intelligently routes calls through 3G or WiFi. You never have to open the app, except once after installation. It promises to deliver clear audio even at low bitrates. Also, all conversation is encrypted for
privacy.

To a question on how this new feature on Hike will be different from voice calling through Skype, Mittal tells Tech in Asia:" With Zip Phone’s technology we’ll be able to build a very bandwidth efficient voice calling stack which we believe is very important for a market like India."

One of India’s highest funded startups of 2014, Hike launched in December 2012.Hike has over 35 million users and has raised $86 million from Tiger Global and BSB till date.
