Yahoo follows through ..

by Ziuby

Recent increase in cyber attacks and instances for e-mail and phone data hacking have only highlighted the need of more security measures. Businesses have now moved on and accepted the digital revolution. Lot of business activities are done across different geographical locations and time-zones, such is the requirement. Internet has truly made a business a global business in every true sense. Yet there are security threats that need to  assessed and dealt with.

In such times the digital world will always look up-to the IT giants. Yahoo is one such company to step up-to the challenge. Yahoo promised last year to turn on HTTPS by default for all Yahoo! Mail exchanges. Now when you send or receive mails on Yahoo! Mail, your exchanges will automatically be encrypted by default and protected. It is mention that anytime user use Yahoo’s Mail services, whether it is on the web, mobile web, mobile apps or even via IMAP, POP or SMTP, it will remain completely encrypted. This encryption will not just remain limited to your mails but also extend itself to your attachments, contacts, calendar and the Messenger in the Mail.

This is a very good example of the leaders taking up the challenge at helping to put out an action plan with execution. Let us hope that others will follow and lend a helping hand in increasing the security over the Internet.

Mobile Apps to boost your Business

by Ziuby

We have changed a lot ! One has to agree that a conventional shopper has now gotten a wide array of platforms for buying goods.  Now a business has become bold and with several new avenues to exploit the chances of turning a small idea into a successful business is more of reality. This has now become possible only because of few specific things. A perfect balance of market demand and the technological advancement have lead to this situation.

A customer is no longer the only one who walks into the shop. A business owner now engages a customer through e-mail, mobile-app, through a website and many other such electronic platforms. These are the result of new Digital World and referred to as E-Commerce. So what is E-Commerce and Mobile Commerce? Has it really impacted our way of shopping so much?
? Well yes!

 A few interesting stats:

 1. Over 1 billion of the world’s 4+ billion mobile phones are smartphones.
 2. By today, mobile internet usage is projected to overtake desktop internet usage.
 3. Apple has the smart phone largest market share, followed closely by Android, with Windows and   Blackberry being the runner ups.
 4. Apps are developed differently for Apple, Android, Windows, and Blackberry devices, yet if properly planned apps can be created for all devices on a single framework.

The phrase mobile commerce was originally coined in 1997 by Kevin Duffey at the launch of the Global Mobile Commerce Forum, to mean “the delivery of electronic commerce capabilities directly into the consumer’s hand, anywhere, via wireless technology. Many choose to think of Mobile Commerce as meaning “a retail outlet in your customer’s pocket.” The telecom Industries are now providing services at a low price. Because of this and the low cost of Smartphone there are lot of people using Internet through mobile or handheld devices.  Mobile Commerce is also known as m-commerce.

2015 is going to be an interesting year. Web-designing and development Industry have now gotten even more avenues to exploit and come up with innovative and smart solutions.

IBM flags security threats with mobile-apps

by Ziuby

According to a study by International Business Machines Corp, millions of people using dating apps on company smartphones could be exposing themselves and their
employers to hacking, spying and theft. IBM security researchers said 26 of 41 dating apps they analyzed on Google Inc's Android mobile platform had medium or
high severity vulnerabilities. IBM did not name the vulnerable apps but said it had alerted the app publishers to problems.

According to a 2013 Pew Research Center study, about 31 million Americans have used a dating site or app. IBM found employees used vulnerable dating apps in nearly
50 percent of the companies sampled for its research.

IBM said the problem is that people on dating apps let their guard down and are not as sensitive to potential security problems as they might be on email or websites.
A phone's camera or microphone could be turned on remotely through a vulnerable app, which IBM warned could be used to eavesdrop on personal conversations or confidential business meetings. Vulnerable GPS data could also lead to stalking, and a user's billing information could be hacked to purchase things on other apps or websites. IBM also said it had not so far seen a rash of security breaches due to dating apps as opposed to any other kind of social media.

This report comes in when already there many victims of security breaches and instances of miss use of sensitive information have occurred. It seems for now a user must be highly vigilant about the information shared in the digital world.

Technology and Us , Is there too much dependency ?

by Ziuby

Today's society is different to the one that existed not so many years ago. Our society is constantly changing. The most important characteristics of our era may be the transformation, transmission and dominion of information. We live in an information society where the leading role has been given to new technologies, especially those devoted to information. Our society could not be imagined without new technologies and their role both in this society and in human life in general.

Modern technology has revolutionized people’s communication. Radio, telephone, satellite communication, cellular technology, wireless Internet … in the modern day two people can chat with a help of computer when they're in different places. Technology is building bridges between people on opposite sides of the globe, bringing people from all cultures and backgrounds into contact with each other.
The Internet hosts an enormous information base. Technology has made it possible for this information to reach far and wide. Online education has set in, making it possible to render knowledge to students inhabiting remote locations on Earth. It is due to the World Wide Web that the information could reach one and all over the computer networks.
Also modern technology has also provided ways to grow more food, transport more people and make more products for a growing society.

Another biggest benefits of modern technology is that human health have improved because of its application. As knowledge of the body and its functions improves, and as new tools to help heal it are created, life lasts longer. Not only does life extend, but people can live more comfortably, and recover from wounds and diseases that even a half a century ago would have been fatal.Nowadays machines have begun executing laborious, repetitive tasks. People do not have to slog to the extent they did before the advent of technology. Automation of processes has brought about efficiency and speed. Speedy performance of tasks has saved human effort and time.

New technologies sometimes are making people dull. For example, if you have to add 85+63+11+759 (or something difficult like that) then you'll surely depend on calculators of such devices. But where's our mind mechanism?
So we need technologies, because they are making our life more comfortable and safety, but lets' not make technologies our habit.

From the sources of media ,Veteran software maker Jon von Tetzchner launched a new Internet browser on Tuesday, offering an interface for high-volume users who "have problems fitting all their open tabs on one screen", he said in a Reuters interview.

Known as Vivaldi and available on desktop computers from Tuesday, the browser's initial launch covers the Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. "A mobile phone and a tablet version are in the pipeline. We are working on it, but they won't be out until they're ready," said von Tetzchner.

With features like personalized notes, bookmarks with small screen shots and speed dials with options for multiple groups and folders, Vivaldi hopes to attract high-volume users.

There are several other browsers like Duck Duck Go and  Qwant  who are trying get a piece of the market completely dominated by Google. This comes as a good news for the public as it gives them several more options and hopefully even more new features to experience.
