Apple Hits

by Ziuby

Apple started as a computer company April 1, 1976 -- and in these 48 years, has gone from making just computers to making a number of products the masses love and clamor for year in and year out. Apple has released some of the best-selling products of all time, and has revolutionized whole industries on its own. Music, phones, computers.

iMac

With iMac Apple suffered quite a few flops with its computing line after Jobs was ousted from the company. After Jobs returned, that changed in 1998 when the company announced the iMac series of computers, starting with the iMac 3G.  The iMac 3G was an all-in-one personal computer, with the monitor and CPU in one system, and it was the first computer where you could actually see the inside. It included dual headphone jacks and built-in stereo speakers, and is one of the first major products that Jonathan Ive, Apple's vice president of industrial design, is credited with designing.

iTunes
Apple introduced iTunes, a digital jukebox of sorts, in January 2001. The program's big innovation was allowing a user to store all the songs on a computer in one place. Unlike many of Apple's products, iTunes is a free download that was originally available only for Mac OS 9, but later came to Microsoft's Windows to help expand iTunes' reach.

iPhone
In January 2007, Apple introduced the iPhone on AT&T's network, setting a new standard in smartphone design and functionality, The first iPhone was unveiled at Macworld 2007 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and was very pricey. In the first five quarters the phone was available, Apple sold 6.1 million units. The company eventually cut the price by $200. The iPhone5sproved to be a big hit and get people talking, but not until the iPhone 5s did Apple truly show the capabilities of how a smartphone could overtake the PC and other mobile devices for all your computing needs.

iPad Air
In April 2010, Apple announced the iPad, which breathed new life into an ailing tablet market that no other tech company had been able to successfully crack. According to Reuters via iSuppli, 12.9 million iPads were shipped as of Dec. 10, 2010, including 300,000 sold the first day it was available.
The iPad Air, however, has taken the tablet market to the next level.
Apple's thinnest iPad yet, it weighs just 1.05 pounds with LTE connectivity, nearly 1/2 pound lighter than its predecessor. It's just 7.5 millimeters thick, nearly 2 millimeters thinner than its predecessor as well

Mac OS X
Apple has always been known for making exceptionally beautiful hardware, but its software has also been a thing of beauty, as Mac OS X has been the standard for years now. Originally developed from software from NeXT.OS X is built on a Unix system that's sleek, responsive, safe and easy to use. It's both available in 32 and 64 bit editions, and the current version,

Apple Incs' Misses ...

by Ziuby

In our earlier blog Apple Inc Hits and Misses we promised you with a follow-up blog on that gave a detailed idea about which appleproducts faired exccellent in the market and the ones which didn't. Everyone knows Apple excels at innovation and thinking differently. It's the company that gave us #iPods and #iPhones, #iPads and #MacBooks...(and the list goes on and on and on).But not every Apple invention was a grand slam. Here's a look at some Apple products that just didn't hit their intended mark.

1. The Apple III (1980-1981)

The Apple III was announced on May 19, 1980, during the National Computer Conference in Anaheim, California.  It runs twice as fast as the Apple II and has twice as much memory - 128k of RAM. It is also the first Apple computer to have a built-in floppy drive, a 143k 5.25-inch floppy drive, has 4 internal expansion slots & a heavy piece of aluminum.
Steve Jobs, who supervised the project, gave ridiculous demands to the development team including dimensions that were too small to fit all the components, and no cooling fan, because they were 'too noisy and inelegant'.
The result was that the motherboard got hot and warped, eventually causing some chips to come loose in their sockets, which would cause system malfunctions. One popular fix was to pick up the console and drop it onto the desk, temporarily re-seating the loose chips.

2. Apple Newton (1993-1998)

The built-in handwriting recognition is the Newton's most unique and interesting ability, it's one of the first-ever Personal Digital Assistants (PDA). Unfortunately, at about 4.5 x 7 inches, and almost one inch thick, the Newton is really too large and heavy (almost one pound) to be considered pocket-size. The non-backlit LCD screen, like most, has poor contrast and is difficult to read.

3. Apple PipPin(1995-1996)

Apple PipPin was a system developed by Apple to be licensed by third parties, Bandai and Katz Media were the only companies to acquire production licenses. It uses CD-ROM discs, had a computer operating system. There was also some accessories to enhance the base system, such as a modem, keyboard and mouse, But it faced competition from the Nintendo 64, Sony Playstation, and Sega Saturn, so game developers and users ignored the Pippin.

4. Apple eMate (1997-1998)

Seventeen years ago, Apple released its first and only touchscreen laptopwhich ran Apple’s Newton PDA OS, With a 25MHz ARM CPU, 1MB of RAM, and 2MB of flash memory. Apple wanted to put a cheap, portable, rugged computer in the hands of every child.Indeed, the eMate was one of the cheapest computers Apple had ever made. Interestingly, the eMate 300 did not gain significant traction in the educational sector.

5. The "Hockey Puck" Mouse (1998-2000)

The apple “Hockey Puck” mouse is the Apple’s first USB mouse.Released with the iMac in 1998 and included with all successive desktop Macs for the next two years. The shape of the mouse has changed over the years, but with one exception they all fit the hand well. That exception was the round "Hockey puck" USB mouse which is widely considered one of Apple's worst mistakes. Curiously, Steve Jobs mentioned that it was the best mouse ever created. Fat lot he knows! Or maybe he was only judging it by its visual design – it was quite stylish – and not its usability. There was a great rejoicing when Apple discontinued the round mouse in 2000,replacing it with the lozenge-shaped Pro Mouse that used the entire mouse as a button.

Although these are just a few , there are several more that just didn't get any traction in the market. Still one must applaud and acknowledge the persistence of Apple. The have never left the line of innovation and technological art and that is the reason for their multiple products that did exceedingly well and captures the heart and minds of tech-savvy people and turned them into loyal followers.

Keep following and wait for our follow-up blog on Apple Incs' Hits. We will list out all the best products of Apple so far.

Apple Inc Hits and Misses ...

by Ziuby

Apple has always captured the imagination of investors' and the public. The "geniuses" at Apple have always worked on with focusing more on pushing the boundaries and developing products that are a fusion of Art and Technology.

Apple founder and one of the best visionary on 20th century Steve Jobs who passed away in  2011 has always seen technology through the eyes of an artist. Esthetically beautiful and eye catching design of hardware have always been the unique selling point with Apple. With recent iPod,iPhone and going back to the early days of iMacs Apple has enjoyed a lot of success at the market. While the company's early computers, especially the Apple II line, brought the world of personal computing into offices, homes, and schools, there were more than a few bad apples. Even fans groan at the memory of the Pippin and the QuickTake camera. The Apple III and Lisa were personal computer bombs. Apple TV still hasn't quite caught on. Lately, however, the company has made few missteps. Its latest game-changer is the iPad, which made its debut in April 2010. The iPad may end the personal computer era that Steve Jobs helped introduce 30 years ago.

In our follow up blogs we will focus and do an in depth analysis of the products that have done exceptionally well in the market and also the ones that didn't. We will also try and get a bearing on what to expect from Apple in 2015.So look froward to our follow blogs on "Apple Hits and Misses"

Copy your handwriting onto an iPad

by  Ziuby

Apple has always been driven by innovation in terms of putting out digital solution. Be it #ipod  , #iphone #imac , all these devices have surely kept the tech-savvy people hooked in. Apple enjoys a wide variety and large base of followers who are always looking forward to what will the #geniuses at apple will come up next. #2015 for Apple users will surely be   exciting.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted #Apple a patent on Tuesday for a "communicating stylus" that would capture digital copies of handwritten notes and drawings from a variety of surfaces, from paper to a whiteboard. The pen would use accelerometer sensors, device storage and wireless transmission to send handwritten notes from the stylus to a digital display, according to the patent, first spotted by Apple Insider.

Similar "smart" pens already exist. The LiveScribe 3, for example, can digitally capture written notes, as long as users write on a special type of paper. Apart from this apple set for Apple stylus, Theoretically, someone could write on a table or even in the air, and the words would be transferred to a digital device.
A bigger #iPad would be a perfect companion for such a stylus outlined in the patent; the #Adobe Ink and Slide digital drawing tools, for example, are often used with tablets.
