Web Hosting Services. Which type of service suits the best for me ..

by Ziuby

Although we all by now know what a website is, we still don't know what are the basics of it. Since the presence of Internet is growing at a fast pace, one must have some basic knowledge about what actually goes in hosting a website over the world wide web.

A web hosting service takes care of actually hosting a website and making it accessible to the audience over the Internet connection.  According to the Wikipedia definition "A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web." Let us take a look at some basic information.

Types of Web Hosting Services

There are various types of web hosting services available to host your website. Before signing up for web hosting services, it is important to understand what kind of service your website needs, the kind of server you or your business needs, your budget, and what type of services the web host offers.

 Hosting options available are:
  • Free Hosting
  • Shared Hosting
  • Dedicated Hosting
  • Collocated Hosting
Free Hosting
Free web hosting can be a good choice when you just want to build a non-critical website for fun. Very often in a free hosting environment, connection speed is slow, website can be down frequently, and advertising banners is automatically added to your website.

Shared Hosting
Here you share the server space with other website owners. Physical Hardware and the Software applications installed on the server are also shared. These services are affordable because the cost to operate the server is shared between you and these other owners. Although the speed might be a bit low and there is a lot of dependency on the service provider to resolve issues and manage the servers efficiently

Dedicated Hosting
Here you have the entire web server to yourself. This helps you to get faster performance. You don't have to share the resources with anyone. This also means that you are responsible for managing the activities on the server. This is a good choice for websites that requires a lot of system resources, or need a higher level of security.

Collocated Hosting

In this type of hosting, you will purchase your own server and have it housed at a web host’s facilities. You will be responsible for the server itself. An advantage of this type of hosting service is you have full control of the web server. You can install any scripts or applications you need.
Be it any type of hosting one can ensure that with the right plan which is well thought out and that suits your business needs, a owner can create the right kind of impact in the market. A good set of parameters followed during web development coupled with the right hosting plan can really help to create the right kind of market presence. Choose the wrong option and you will end up spending more that you actually require. So choose the right plan and take the right step ahead in the modern business movement.

Web Development and Design in India

by Ziuby

The IT sector has developed at a rapid rate in past few years. European countries have always been ahead of the curve. With IT giants like Microsoft, Google,  Apple starting right in their backyards, one can say that America have pioneered the Technological movement and have been at least 10 years ahead from rest of the countries. People only looked towards European markets for innovation and new ideas but this has changed. India has been catching up fast. There is lot of talent and curiosity amongst the Indians. This has resulted into the current attitude of cities like Bangalore,Pune, and Hyderabad.

Technology and its need have reached very deep in the market.  With the right attitude and set of skills a company of 3-5 employees can bring in the next big thing. The web designing and development companies in Pune have really stepped up their game. They are breaking the shackles of old and traditional ways of putting out solutions. Innovations and out of the box thinking is given the highest priority now. Web solutions need a fair bit of analysis done before and the young talent of India are up for the challenge.

Businesses are now looking at logo design and responsive web design as a basic requirement for developing a web-solution. Conventional marketing techniques and marketing strategy have seen some significant revamping. Social platforms like Facebook and twitter have completely changed the market reach. Businesses have recognized this and want their presence to target a wider audience. This has resulted in people with job descriptions as social media marketing expert.

One can surely agree that India in 2015 is on the right path in terms of Digital growth. Progress of different sectors is linked to the growth of IT in India and so far the IT experts are caring that responsibility well.

Google says bye bye to CAPTCHAs, well almost

by Ziuby

Sick of typing those annoying, and barely readable, letters and numbers to prove to a website that you're not a robot or a spammer?

You may be in luck.

Google announced Wednesday that the company is trying to get rid of those annoying tasks called CAPTCHAs, which is short for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. Instead of requiring that users fill in the letters and numbers shown in a distorted image, sites that use Google's reCAPTCHA service will be able to use just one click, answering a simple question: Are you a robot? "reCAPTCHA protects the websites you love from spam and abuse," wrote Vinay Shet, product manager for Google's reCAPTCHA service, in a blog post. "For years, we've prompted users to confirm they aren't robots by asking them to read distorted text and type it into a box... But, we figured it would be easier to just directly ask our users whether or not they are robots. So, we did! "

Google on Wednesday began rolling out a new API that rethinks the reCAPTCHA experience.
CAPTCHA "can be hard to read and frustrating for people, particularly on mobile devices," said Zeus Kerravala, an analyst with ZK Research. "People often have to put in the text several times. On the surface, this seems a good way to improve the user experience. It still requires human intervention, just something simpler." CAPTCHAs were created to foil computer programs that hackers or spammers use to troll for access to websites or to collect email addresses.

Google said CAPTCHAs are less useful than they have been, although they are still frustrating to everyday users. "CAPTCHAs have long relied on the inability of robots to solve distorted text,' wrote Shet. "However, our research recently showed that today's artificial intelligence technology can solve even the most difficult variant of distorted text at 99.8% accuracy. Thus distorted text, on its own, is no longer a dependable test."
The new API, along with Google's ability to analyze a user's actions -- before, during, and after clicking on the reCAPTCHA box -- let's the new technology figure out if the user is human or not.
"The new API is the next step in this steady evolution," Shet stated. "Now humans can just check the box and in most cases, they're through the challenge."

Don't get too excited just yet, though. Those CAPTCHAs aren't going away all together.
If the reCAPTCHA service can't definitively tell if a user is a person, a spammer or a hacker-based bot, a CAPTCHA will appear and ask for more clues.

"Qwant an Alternative Google"

by Ziuby

A company from a small office near the banks of the river Seine has put on gloves and will try to take on Google. The product is a French search engine called #Qwant. The French start-up, whose product was released 18 months ago, is tapping into growing anger here that Google has too much control over how Europeans surf the web.

“There’s a need for a choice,” Jean Manuel Rozan, a former financier who co-founded #Qwant in 2011, said recently over a cup of coffee. Europe is the only place in the world where people think that Google is the Internet. To stand out from the crowd, Qwant sold a 20 percent stake to Axel Springer, the German publisher, this year for roughly $6 million, mostly to buy European servers.

Along with other Google alternatives like #DuckDuckGo and #Ixquick, a Dutch search engine, Qwant says it does not track people’s online movements and sells advertising based only on individuals’ search queries.
Qwant also plans to release a child-friendly search engine — Qwant Junior — in early 2015.

If you have three million children who will search on Qwant, then there’ll be six million parents who will know about Qwant, said Éric Leandri, another of the start-up’s co-founders, who added that the start-up was in discussions with Axel Springer to become the default search engine on some of the publisher’s websites.

Despite previous failures to a build a credible European search engine, Qwant’s co-founders hope its focus on privacy and attempts to combine social media posts and traditional search results will set it apart from Google, whose projects are as diverse as a smartphone operating system and trying to develop driverless cars.

We want to give results from both the web and social networks,” said Mr. Rozan of Qwant. “If we’re just going to offer the same service as Google, we should stop now.

CPM Vs. CPC Advertising Model for Your Website

by Ziuby

CPM (COST PER MILE) is a per mile based advertising model which pays per thousand impressions. If you have online service website that has regular direct visitors then your website does not get much clicks on the advertisement links. So in that case you can use CPM advertising Model to monetize your website. On the other hand if any website gets more traffic from search engines then the chances of clicking on the advertising links are more. So if your website gets more traffic from search engines then it is good to use CPC (COST PER CLICK) based advertising model.

If your website gets mixed visitors that is equally from search engines and direct visitors then you should consider using both CPM and CPC advertising model on your website. Which model gets more revenue?

CPC advertising model generates more revenue than the CPM for a small scale website or blog. On the other hand large scale websites or blogs can generate more from the CPM based advertising model than the CPC model. It purely depends on the popularity of the website and some other factors like type of visitors, type of traffic, visitors region etc.

A take on Traditional coding v.s CMS tools

by Ziuby

Static websites are very difficult for clients to update without knowledge of HTML, CSS, and FTP. So the developer requires technical knowledge. They are mainly designed and developed to display text on web and not be responsive and they don’t require special kind of hosting. Static websites are costly to make a major change or upgrade and does not support web 2.0 tools very well.

A content management system (CMS) is an application that allows for the creation and editing of content as well as for performing other site maintenance.  It allows you control over many aspects of your web site such as the text, links, navigation, images and documents. When you are working with CMS website, you will need more specific web hosting. Developers don’t need to know HTML, FTP in order to update website, all they need is web-browser and access to admin panel of the CMS system they are using. So the developer does not require technical knowledge. Web 2.0 features are supported by most content management systems. It’s very easy to add a blog, photo gallery, event calendar, shopping cart etc. Extensions (Plugins) can be developed by anyone, and almost free. CMS can be used to make the sites responsive.

Whether you are a highly skilled web developer or new in a web development , you can play a role in creating a web presence to gain your customer. If you want to create Corporate website, personal web content or blog page , instead of handling HTML and CSS coding ,all you need to do is to buy hosting and install a content management system (CMS). It is a computer application that allows publishing, editing and modifying content, organizing, deleting as well as maintenance from a central interface. With the help of CMS,you can have a website which looks highly polished, and displaying the content that you wish to share on your website.

by Ziuby

Are you good at #math? Like, really good at #math? Do you also know #Python and, oh yeah, have deep knowledge of a particular industry? If so, these are good times. Then you might have what it takes to be a data scientist.

#LinkedIn just voted "statistical analysis and data mining" the top skill that got people hired in 2014. Glassdoor reports that the average salary for a data scientist is $118,709 versus $64,537 for a #programmer. A McKinsey study predicts that by 2018, U.S. could face a shortage of 140,000 to 190,000 "people with deep analytic skills" as well as 1.5 million "managers and analysts with the know-how to use the analysis of big data to make effective decisions."

So if such new job profiles attract you and you think it's an area of interest for you then start sharpening your skills now. The demand for smart and innovative solutions will always be there from the market. Meeting those expectations is but the only step towards a success.

Instagram app gets five new filters

by Ziuby

Instagram has reportedly added five new filters to give users more options to experiment with still images.

According to Tech Crunch, each of the new filters has a slightly odd-sounding name. The five filters are called #Slumber, #Crema, #Ludwig, #Aden and #Perpetua.

The Instagram blog says that the filters will soften the image and subtly shift colors to achieve the look and feel the user wants for each photo. The app will also use a preview of the user's actual photo within the filter icons as opposed to the ultra-familiar hot air balloon preview, the report added.

This comes as a great news for people in subscribers of the social media sharing platform.
Instagram already enjoys a strong base of users and with introduction of such new features , it will help them target new audiences. Digital Marketing and Graphic design people will surely enjoy these new filters and see them as an opportunity to enhance their capability.

Facebook dislike button... What do you think ?

by Ziuby

On #Facebook , people post, upload videos and photos for various purpose.
Be it for personal use like photo sharing, thought sharing, or to generate business through digital marketing, face book has provided a platform that caters to almost all the needs of the Digital World.

If person genuinely like their posts and uploads, Like button is the way to express it. Such a positive thing to say that “I like”, has lead to some controversies recently. Terrorist organizations and extremists have now used social media platforms for posting comments to harm the peace of a community People liking those posts have come under the scanner and faced legal action. Avoiding such situations is a must.
Some online community chatter have suggested having dislike button so that  they can avoid to give any kind of response to it .But dislike button psychologically gives Negative impact to a  person you are giving dislike response and can also be used in a wrong way.

Thus the developers coming up with such #innovative ideas must also first think what the impact will be on the social fabric of a country.Security and Ethical behavior are also a major part of #Web Design and #Web Development. A #web solution that finds the right balance between this can surely help to achieve the desired impact and success in the market.  #ziuby
